SWIFT's Crash Course
Yea, I was speeding the highways, as usual, week after week to fill the quota of 950 odd KMs every weekend. Straight from office I would head to Madurai where my wife, my sweet little daughter Christina and my new born King Cyrus are. And I would come back to Chennai on a Sunday after taking my honey Christina through the streets of Madurai and she automatically assumes the role of my Navigator quipping மெதுவா போங்க அப்பா (Drive slowly dad) whenever she feels the turbo spooling in the SWIFT for a greater acceleration.
On 5th June, on my way back from Madurai, near Viraalimalai I had to drop the anchors for an emergency halt as the Alto ahead of me had to cautiously screech to a halt to the cattle which strayed into the National Highways. The LOGAN car, which I had overtaken jus a few minutes ago, was close on my heels as he wanted to overtake me again and his car could not respond to the emergency halt and it kissed my car so violently and SWIFT was rear ended.
The people from the nearby villages and the Police said that this was the first accident where they had seen the people alive after an accident as there were 85 deaths in that same spot ever since the NH was laid. Am happy about that and then passed on the forgiveness to the LOGAN driver who had just bought his car for eking out his livelihood.
Christina dear, am sorry for not taking you for the weekend drives. Car is yet to come back from the surgeon's scalpel and stitches:) (A thougtful inking in 2011 when I failed to fulfil my little daughter's expectations to take her around on my weekend drives)
