Hero Impulse VS Yamaha RXZ || 466 KMs of IMPULSive Solo Ride ||

As I was lazily thinking about a long ride, I knew RXZ would break my back and the sound from the silencer as I roar in the highways would cause partial deafness for a week. So I planned to ride long and that too by BUYING ANOTHER BIKE TO ADD TO MY COLLECTION.

Bought a HERO IMPULSE 2 days ago and Just completed a 466 KMs solo ride in my HERO IMPULSE from Chennai to Madurai. Impulse is RUGGED like my 4X4 Army Disposed Mahindra MM550 JEEP and more reliable than my RXZ, quiet and mightily comfortable like my Mitsubishi Cedia.

Its tall, its grippy, its comfortable, its decently fast, sips less fuel and most importantly IT CAN GO ANYWHERE, ANYHOW, ANYTIME.

Seen above, the HERO IMPULSE  Transroader is standing next to my Mighty Mahindra MM550 Offroader.

Now, the RXZ vs IMPULSE- My take

  1. Both IMPULSE and RXZ are HEAD TURNERs-IMPULSE a little more of an attractive proposition
  2. Yamaha RXZ is a 2 Stroke whereas Hero IMPULSE is a 4 stroke (you knew that already)
  3. RXZ paints the town with white smoke whereas IMPULSE does not (who cares)
  4. RXZ roars like a lion whereas IMPULSE purrs like a Cheetah
  5. RXZ makes your arrival known whereas IMPULSE keeps it all within itself
  6. RXZ is a habitual heavy drinker of fuel and a chain smoker (hahaha) IMPULSE sips fuel gently (27-43KMPL vs 40-55KMPL; least figures for max speed and vice versa for the mileage readings)
  7. RXZ can break your back with its ride comfort whereas IMPULSE helps you forget that you just completed a nearly 500 KMs stretch in the MID NOON SON in the HOT SUMMER IN THE MONTH OF MAY
  8. RXZ's prices soar by the day as its growing in demand (old vehicles which are no more in production are always so and RXZ is more so in this case) and IMPULSE has got no takers in the showroom
  9. RXZ is short and rider friendly as far as its appearance is concerned whereas IMPULSE is TALL and INTIMIDATING for the average Indian rider's height (Off Road bikes are always tall and this is a TRANSROADER)

RXZ Mods planned:

  • RX King Cylinder Kit
  • TM26 Flat Slide Carburettor
  • NGK Racing Ignition Kit
  • 5 Speed Gear box
  • Gas charged rear shock absorbers
  • Front Fork assembly/ suspension modification with disc brakes
IMPULSE Mods planned:
  • Z Type chain and sprocket set up like in KTM offroaders
  • 235 CC Karizma overbored cylinder kit, cam&carnk shafts from Karizma
  • Flat slide carburettor for the above set up and a BIGGER disc brake in the front to handle this power
